5 Motorcycles I Must Ride In 2019

Once again here in the upper midwest, we are in the middle of another “Snowpocalypse”, which really makes a long winter even longer. About the only thing you can do is dream of riding, watch youtube video about new exhaust, and read the best V-Twin motorcycle blog on the planet. As I have written in the past I use the winter months to plan rides, trips and think about what motorcycle I want but shouldn’t buy. This year I decided to turn that wishlist of motorcycles into a post.

The five motorcycles are in no particular order just what came to mind. Hope you enjoy the list and feel free to leave a comment with the motorcycles you want to ride in 2019 as well.

Harley-Davidson LiveWire

Like it or not electric motorcycles are coming and Harley-Davidson is on-board. Back in 2014 HD “shocked” the world with the announcement of Project LiveWire and has since announced a release date and MSRP for the 2020 LiveWire Having never ridden an electric motorcycle and certainly not an almost $30k one I am anxious throuw a leg over this and beast and take it for a spin.

Indian Motorcycle FTR 1200

With the resurgence of flat track racing in the US along with Indian motorcycles dominance in the sport with the Scout FTR 750, it made sense for Indian motorcycle to come out with the FTR 1200. This bike has a ton of features including:

• 3 ride modes (sport, standard and rain)
•  Traction and stability control
• A 4.3-inch touch screen with ride command. 1
• 120 horsepower in a 1203cc liquid cooled engine
• 6-speed gearbox

It’s slated to be released spring 2019 and I’m really hoping to be able to take this bike out for an extended demo.

The redesigned Indian Chieftain

The 2019 Indian Chieftain combines a new, streamlined styling and the proven ThunderStroke 111 for an aggressive look and sweet ride.

A new body style and a 19″ front wheel, Ride Command touchscreen display and a premium 100-watt audio system. And now with Rear Cylinder Deactivation to help avoid the excess engine heat and a redesigned seat this should make for a more comfortable ride.

Now you can choose between three selectable Ride Modes, Tour, Standard, and Sport, for an will fit most riding needs.

I currently own a 2015 Chieftain and love the hell out of it but there are some things I would change in the comfort category and Indian seems to have addressed those in this redesign.

Harley-Davidson FXDR 114

The motorcycle industry is changing is getting younger and I believe Harley-Davidson recognizes that. Enter the FXDR 114. This and the Fat Bob are power cruisers. I got the chance to ride the Fat Bob during the 2018 Sturgis Rally and I fell in love with a Harley for the first time. The FXDR is the Fat Bob’s twisted cousin. It seems to be a replacement for the V-Rod which makes sense because this bike screams Harley much more then the V-Rod ever did. I am really looking forward to throwing a leg over this beast and seeing if Harley can pull this Indain owner in a second time.

A yet to be announced but I have a feeling it’s coming Liquid Cooled American V-Twin touring bike

Much like electric motorcycles, liquid cooled v-twins are the future mostly due to clean-air regulations. Neither Harley-Davidson or Indian Motorcycle Company has released or even announced a liquid-cooled touring motorcycle but I think one is just around the corner and when it is released I want to ride it. If you look at other liquid cooled v-twins on the market you’ll see horsepower numbers are typically better then you will find on air-cooled motorcycles in some cases over 20% higher horsepower. But if you want something that can handle off-roading, you can find a honda trail 70 for sale at Shoppok.
